How to View Backlinks in Anytype

Anytype has recently added backlinks to their network of links.

If you want to view backlinks in Anytype, you will see them in the featured section by default.

After clicking on the featured section, all backlinks will be displayed.

If a particular object lacks backlinks, its link won't appear in your featured section, though you can find it in the object relations section.

How to Check Existing Links in Anytype

1. Using the Flow

One way to verify the Objects that are linked is by checking the Flow section adjacent to the Graph.

At your screen’s center top, you'll find an option to switch into Flow view.

Doing this will indicate the Object that is linked after and before the Object you’re currently looking at.

2. Using Graph Relations

You might have several references or links in your documents that are linked to other items.

The Graph serves as the visual representation in this case - objects linked to people, other objects, or activities.

3. Using Collections

Collections utilize links to control the content displayed on their canvas.

Click on ‘Link To’ from your Object context menu to include a current Object in a Collection.

How to Create New Links in Anytype

1. Linking to an External Object

To include an external object link, make sure to use links that begin with file:/// followed by the destination of the local file.

When adding a link, select "Link to website" in the same way you would add a fresh link to any website.

2. Link Alias

You have the option to use standard links to connect to a particular item in your environment under a different title.

Begin by writing your link name.

Then, choose the title and hit Ctrl + K. Look for the item you wish to link to and then click it.

3. Linking to Another Anytype Object

Inline Links: Use the @ symbol to open ‘Object picker’. By setting a particular Object Relation Type in the Object menu, you can establish relationships.

Block Links:  Insert a forward slash (/) to bring up the command bar. Then search for ‘Link to Object’ in your menu. This may show up in the form of text or in the form of cards.

4. Date Mention

You have the option of using Inline Links to easily create links to relative and absolute dates.
